2016 Dec 23 Friday night after work – TGIF celebratory day ride

Hey ! ,   The days are now getting longer! TGIF Friday ride grabbing major daylight – report.

The Fat Bike is incredible and fun in the Mud! I feel like a 10 yr old taking on puddles, mud, and snow.

TUNAGE: Pantera, RHCP
CONDITIONS: 40F down to 33F, home by darkness, mostly sunny and not too cold.
TIME: Duration 2.5 hrs leaving around 3:15pm sunny out.
TRAIL: Melting snow, plenty of mud if you are looking with it. One hill was pedalled spinning rear tire most the way, but i got to the top.

Included photo has the recommended cheap approach to a Fat bike hot rinse in winter. The wooden upright stand, the cleaning brush, the watering can with warm water inside. The rinse must occur before re-freezing and drying out of mud buildup. Always treat your Fat Bike to a hot rinse winter months.

Trailed to South Suburban Golf course – rideable because closed to golf, great scenery, plenty of mud out and back. Long challenge hill along golf course get the cardio going. Access to County Line Rd feasible at far south-east corner by the morturary. Across the street is a frisbee gold course, behind a barbed wire fence. Next ride should explore this area. The C470 trail is out there just south, need to find an accessway from this part of town.

Ride then to deKoevend, and inspected contruction on new retirement center construction, and learned of the trail closure on Big Dry Creek trail segment near the park.

  • Tomorrow is Staunton ,  or maybe the Studded snow tires will be ready… Big rides are coming up.
