What a beautiful ride with incredible terrain and land features. There is an eager and energetic bunch of runners and hikers on this unique trail. It starts mellow, but will be a long uphill trail towards the top. This is a technical trail which means to me, that I will need to walk-up some segments. But your return downhill will be glorious, full of confidence and assertion. The disc brakes combined with studded tires can give you the confidence to tackle anything. The new tires held up really well. I’m thinking a simple customer letter to the manufacturer and local bike shop for Kudos.
TUNAGE: none, forgot the music gear. It was nice and I did not miss the tunage… much.
CONDITIONS: Colder than the weather girl will tell you. At this location, around 35F hovering around freezing.
GEAR: Hot herb tea in the HydroFlask, After overheating uphill and removing outer thin fleece, rode the rest of the trip on base layers. Good Trailhead with water/outhouse.
TEMP: I guess 37-42F range. Weather front coming in moves the temps to below 30f around 6pm.
NOTES: This trail is bookmarked for summer season exploration. According to the map, this would be an excellent all-day excursion up to Horsetooth resevoir.
