South Valley Park – JeffCo

TUNAGE: Linkin Park, Green Day

Gorgeous weather in the AM & early afternoon. Found another gem just the other side of the hogback near Ken Caryl Ranch.

The Grazing Elk trail is mostly singletrack with fewer visitors. It loops up close to some ULA buildings but the view of the hogback facing east, and tall grasses give this a very remote feel.

One the return trip the primary trail north south was busy with pedestrians, families, and dogs. This section is wide enough it poses no issue but trail ettique would slow down the hammerheads.

There is a finger trail (Lyon’s Back), off the north-south trail which goes over a ridge to the Columbine Trail. A narrow valley here and the dinosaur ridge hogback just east. From here I heard the occasional roar of drag racing cars at Bandimere which is located on the other side of the ridge.
