Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve

TUNAGE: 70’s Pop tunes

To and from round trip 18 miles on nearly all dirt trails.

Accessible only from the Highline Canal trail. This is a large tract of land hidden from view by neighboring roads. It’s located in Greenwood Village among large gated communities. There is an interesting story about Marjorie Perry and I’ve included a PDF I found online about her, and her legacy which brought about this hidden gem. This is one of my favorite destinations accessed by all-dirt trails from by backporch near SouthGlenn. Exploring inside you will find single track trails and the key pathway over a box culvert. I had to google a box culvert but this is notable feature because it has been buried by a dirt berm and pathway on the top. As a wetland area, the bird populations are very happy here.

Wetlands area with abundant bird populations. An fat geese.
The Box Culvert is underneath this dirt trail connecting across two ponds.
The lower pond west of the culvert path.
Upper Pond on east side of the culvert path.
The Highline Canal circles the Nature Preserve like a hairpin.
It’s very quiet and remote. Lot’s of places to hide from the world.
Occasional signage and a couple of log chairs to sit upon.
