Windsor CO – Poudre River Trail – Western approach

TUNAGE: Red Hot Chili Peppers +

Visiting my son in Greeley, and spent the day riding this trail which goes from Windsor to Greeley. Smooth and wide paved surface makes the speeds fast. These trail segments are high quality unlike some of the segments closer to Greeley. (23 mile ride)

Did a dual loop ride using Eastman Park as the base point. Not much sun but I never needed gloves during the ride due to warm weather. Some interesting features along the way but otherwise a mellow flat trail. You’ll see farmland, several small ponds, and a large fracking facility with some drilling going on. There are nature trails and a treeless park near the Poudre Learning Center – see the main building (the Hazelton School building). This place is more a nature preserve than a school.

Just south of Eastman Park is a tall statue of a pelican carved from a huge tree.

Poudre Learning Center – all property and the pond behind the building as part of a preserved area.
Trail passes directly next to this facility.
Many long and lonely stretches of the trail.
Footbridge crossover the Poudre River.
Footbridge crossing Poudre facing westward.
A segment being shaped, not sure what for.
