Sheep Creek Loop – Fairplay and the source of S Platte – Day 4 Last

Today’s riding was short and spent some time exploring as a tourist. The Sheep Creek Trail was listed online for mountain biking. But the trail became invisible and I was not interested in guess work. I was the only person in the area and it was very remote. Rest of the day I explored for the headwaters and source of the S Platte. The map took me up into this platte gulch near the continental divide. This abandoned mine was a surprise and it was near to tree line. No rideable terrain here so the mountain shots were taken on foot hiking up a bit.

Saw Alma for the first time, visited Como, and went far up the Mosquito Pass road to see what a summer ride attempt at the pass would look like. Very sleepy and very remote. Looks like fun for the next visit.

Next Vacation – Salida and their annual Fibark river event.

Post Card Shot.

Jeep road went up to the abandoned mine.

Water seemed really low, or maybe the melting has just begun around me.

I’ll need to study up on the story and reason for this diversion.
