Whitewater – FIBARK event in Salida 2017 – Day 4
Having watched many whitewater participants, I conclude they are all nutso! This time of year the water is high and participants seem to have a sense of urgency in their sport. I have a photo of kayaks for sale at the local Walmart where $300 gets you a new kayak. Today is a tourist day for me and I rode the bike solely through town to feel the vibe, visit the ‘Ride the Rockies’ event, and take photos of the FIBARK events. This is a huge local festival and includes live bands, a carnival, and both water and land competitions. The entire town is engaged and benefitting from this annual event. Leaving town I was hearing on radio that there where mountain bike races, 5K and 10K runs, and road bike races also on Sunday.
The weather over the 4 days vacation was phenomenal. Need some destination for July 4th time off. Maybe Guanella Pass around Breck?
ARTS IN SALIDA, CO
Big Scene here and part of the Salida, CO identity. I have visited some great artists with studios downtown. After stumbling into my first, then second studio, I spent a couple of hours and saw 8-10 professional art studios owned by the artists. Talked for nearly an hour with Steph B r a d y
