Rust Orange Full Moon

Full Moon ride at Chatfield – August 5th

The smoke and haze from Montana fires have made daylight appear overcast. The sunset is muted but colorful. The Moon was not visible until totally dark and moved from rust orange to a dull yellow as it rises in the sky. Tonight’s ride from the gravel ponds, to the dam road and back was chilly. The summer is drawing to a close with cooler temps at night, and sunsets are now at 7:25am.

The sun can be viewed directly as it sets over the foothills. Sunset is still 25 minutes away before twilight begins.
From the gravel pond lot to begin the ride into twilight and darkness.
The late summer trails are worn and hard. Only hints of occasional leaves turning but the weeds still grow happily at this time.
