The Turkey Day Trails

Named for the time of year I plan to ride these. Rode a couple of trail segments over 2 days in this unnamed central state. Visiting family and the weather is excellent therefore rare at this time of year.

One trail called the Link, goes North-South through the center of town. It’s about as urban as we get in this town.

The other segment is on the southeast of town. It moves along a rail segment, then the James River.

A bit of green in an otherwise brown and winter bound scene.
Lots of caves in this area. This park has a few.
Slow moving but clear water. This stream feeds into the James River further south.
The ground is worn down from the visitors/kids who play here near the playground.
In inviting maintenance road that dead ends at a railway bridge.
The bridge is pedestrian only, but commemorates fallen soldiers.
A couple of under the road tunnels made the overall ride pleasant with few traffic intersections to cross.
Fits a family of 4, this honors donors at a nearby school for the disabled.
Furthest Southeast point on the marked trail. Turns into a frontage road for a busy highway segment.
An important citizen named after many buildings downtown.
The tallest building in town.
It’s a holiday, and everyone is home. This is C-Street, (Commercial Street) and the downtown section. Quiet today though.
