Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve(MPNP)

Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve(MPNP) – This remote and hard to access area is a real gem. Accessible only by trail, there is literally NO convenient parking anywhere for the public to access this area. The closest with public parking is Castlewood Park located just north of Orchard, on Holly. You have from here nearly a mile of walking/biking on paved path to get here. The Nature Preserve is surrounded by high priced houses, and some small ranches. Equestrians are common and the reason the entire Nature Preserve was created.

Castlewood Park – Holly and Orchard, then north on Holly, on the east side at the first stop sign.

The two entrances have MPNP, and this affixed rope.
From the Castlewood Park area, your walk to MPNP starts like this. Go east and a small walkway over the high line canal opens up to MPNP.
The canal loops around this 60 acres area.
Drainage from the upper pond to the lower pond.
The lower pond and trail exiting the northwest.
Upper Pond. I’ve seen Pelicans here.
Upper pond on right, lower pond on left, and the trail between the two in the center.
A few areas of signage.
This is a favorite stopping point of mine in this nature preserve.
Looking west. Thin haze of an approaching cold front.
