CPW#33 Stagecoach and Lake Catamount in Steamboat

March 3-6 2020 Steamboat Springs, Colorado
This is the week before the cancellation of college sports. Soon Covid will be prominent. I posted this several weeks after the trip. I have still been riding daily except for deep snow days. There was very deep snow at Stagecoach State Park, and I visited and talked with the park ranger on duty. I one of only 3 visitors to the park that day. It was a long drive from Steamboat to StageCoach State park. I was pleasantly surprised at the nearby mountains so this is worth another visit.

Lake Catamount is a private Golf Course and Nordic Center in the Winter. They allow Fat Biking on every trail. I was able to ride at least half of the nordic trail system. It was a very sunny and beautiful day. More reasons to visit Steamboat in the winter without the costly lift ticket prices.

The trails were stretched out very far from the base lodge. These hay bales became markers of the way home.
This stream fed into Lake Catamount which is just south of downtown Steamboat Springs
An ocean of white snow everywhere.
This is a large open golf course. In the winter the trails likely follow golf cart pathways.
Wandering and looping through this open valley.
Some minor hill climbs with a view that was worthwhile.
It was during the week and not very busy with nordic skiers.
I think he smelled the trail snacks I carried. Or just a curious dog.
I visited the park, but the snow was very deep and only a couple of ice fisherman present this day.
