Grand Canyon AZ – Day 1

Oct. 1, 2020 – Full moon tonight. All day drive from Denver yesterday leaves me wiped out.
On my first full day at GC, so I explore the park during the day for optimal locations for sunset and sunrise. Having seen the way the sun works the scenery makes this a study over several days and several locations. I am visiting and staying near the South Rim, which has the most accommodations and is the most popular. Some limited smoky haze came in on the second day but the mornings seemed clearer.
I have my first success with my low light lens after figuring out how to work the Aperture mode fully. I’ve found reading and studying helpful, but actually using and getting success with different lenses is the only way to know for sure.

Similar to Yellowstone, the national park maps don’t convey what the terrain and distances are like.
Regarding cycling, most trails are through beautiful forest land which I can tell has been thinned and cleared of unnecessary underbrush to minimize fire danger. But only a very short segment along the rim would allow cycling so for most of the trails, you never see the Grand Canyon Scenery.
