Trinidad CO – In town trails

June 18 2020 – Day #1 of vacation time. There is a lot of potential but the town and trail riding is anemic if not barely there. A local overlook with Flag offers a great view of town. Shots here include the river-way trail which is quite short. More graffiti and trash here near and on trails left a sour taste. Drove down to what will become Fisher’s Peak State park but everything if fenced off. Not even a visitors sign. But the new state park in Colorado will be awesome to visit once built out to handle visitors.

Yep, I went here. The rest of town has some older buildings around turn of century and many streets are paved in brick. Likely something unique offered the town so much brick to be able to pave some downtown streets.
The river Purgatoire flows from Trinidad Lake.
Coal mining was big in this area but little reminder exists of those days.
The cliffs are a deadly fall to the bottom. Or so it seems.
The entry trail up to this rocky peak with the flag and Trinidad sign. Hills in the distance show no available cycling trails.
Trinidad, CO with Fisher’s Peak in horizon. The new State Park will be surrounding or near to that Peak.
The top of this rocky cliff is a great view. Too bad so much broken glass and obvious misuse was seen.
