Alamosa CO Local Trails – day 5

Jun 20, 2020 – A change in plans and I’ve reserved in Alamosa for 3 days. First outing is to explore the town and the local trails. Some sections of great single track alongside the Rio Grande river. A fair amount of open range trails with cow herds along the way. My reading shows they are expanding trails significantly in town. Because Alamosa is in the valley where it’s flat, mountain bike riding is north or west where hills and mountains begin their rise. Here is my adventure discovering the local trails in town.

Southern Colorado, The Spanish Peaks area. This photo taken from the car. All remaining taken from the saddle.
The higher altitude was barely noticeable but I have been up there for several days.
The Rio Grande River runs through town.
Looking towards Mt. Blanca, a prominent 14’er.
In the distance straight ahead, you can see the top of the Great Sand Dunes in the foothills of the distant mountain.
Curious cows listened patiently at my long speech on the future of Professional Spend reporting.
The Rio Grande here has some fingers that split and merge. These segments flow slowly.
These are some great single track trails here in town.
Happy Trails with Mt. Blanca dead ahead.
Mt. Blanca is a formidable mountain and hard to reach I hear.
I read this carefully and laughed, until the last instruction at the bottom. It is the takeaway you don’t forget.
