Full Moon – Ride or Paddleboarding on Jun 9

Full Moon – and no Paddleboarding

Responded with a full moon ride when I heard of full moon paddleboarding at Chatfield. But their launch was by the gravel ponds and I needed a ride up to the dam to get a full panoramic view. I began before dark riding the highline canal down to the plum creek / Titan rd area, hoping to see how the water is getting to the continuation of the canal. No answers there but the landscape was awesome in the waning sun.

Got perhaps some of the only decent moonlight shots ever. Keeping the tripod steady is tough in any wind.

After dark, I passed a toad on the dam trail. Odd place for a toad to be hanging out.

The paddleboarding crew was thin. The announcement came out early this week. They plan to do in on full moon evenings. The weather and clear skies were perfect for this ride. Tried a couple of shots on the iPhone.

Fun time and perfect weather.

Above, Facing North from the trails out of south east of the park where Plum Creek merges into the reservoir straight ahead. This shot carefully cropped to pull the best parts into the pic. Because of good light, the clarity was there. Shot taken from the bike w no tripod.

Paddle boarding in Moonlight. Their location and my guess and timing were off, so I took the ride instead of waiting for darkness.

Awwwww

Above – Zoomed and the steadiest shot yet. Even slightest vibration will ruin a shot even if on the tripod.

More awwwww.

Even when steady, the shots are grainy. Need to study up on what to do to improve.
